Technical Information about Argentina: This country has over 3.761.274 Km2 area (slightly more than four times the size of Texas), and 33.000.000 people living on it. The dairy area has a moderate climate, with a average temperature of 18 degrees Celsius (51.8 F). During winter it goes down to cero (few times below) and summer up to 35șC. Rainfall averages in all the area 700-1000 milimeters/year (28-40 inches). There are some dairies out west (Mendoza province) with Californian type of climate, but very few because most of population is in Buenos Aires, Cordoba and Santa Fe. The mayor dairy provinces are Buenos Aires, Cordoba, Santa Fe (each one contribute with 32% of total milk production) & Entre Rios and La Pampa with 3%.

• Overview: Argentina is rich in natural resources, and has a highly literate population, an export-oriented agricultural sector, and a diversified industrial base. Nevertheless, the economy has encountered major problems in recent years, leading to a recession in 1988-89. Economic growth slowed to 2.0% in 1987 and to - 1.8% in 1988; a sharp decline of - 5.5% has been estimated for 1989.
